Prayer for Richard Nevitt

I received a phone call from Joyce Brantly today who delivered a signed poster on behalf the Men's #57 team to Richard Nevitt at Baptist South.

Richard Nevitt was a table Cha this past weekend for Men's #57. He unfortunately could not complete the weekend and was admitted to Baptist South Late Friday evening.

As of Monday afternoon, Brenda e-mailed Joyce (which promted Joyce to call me) to let everyone know that Richard had a stress test done this afternoon and that Richard's attitude and outlook is not very good either. We need to continue to lift Richard up in each of our Prayers. No details yet as to the results of the stress test.

Thank you.

URGENT PALANCA needed for #57

You must have missed my last blast! We are still less than half full on th prayer chain-REMEMBER, you can do it wherever you happen to be! Don't let the clipboad king down ( and, of course THE PILGRIMS)- Just Do It!

We are less than a month away from Men's #57 (20-23 September) and then a week later Women's #57 sneaks right in there! Have your candidates submitted their applications? Have you checked out the Prayer Vigil?(we are less than half full!).
Since prayer is the basis for all Palanca, the online Prayer Chain (Prayer Vigil) is our primary need:
Men's #57   http://3dayol.org/Vigil/GetVigil.phtml?pvid=7109&commid=311
Women's #57  http://3dayol.org/Vigil/GetVigil.phtml?pvid=7110&commid=311

> The above link will take you to the Prayer Chain for Men's & Women's #57. Please sigh up early and often! Don't forget to mark your calendar so you don't forget what time to pray wherever you are (you should get an automatic email reminder when you sign up). If you have a groupie or know of anybody else who doesn't do email, volunteer to sign them up or contact me and I'll be glad to do it.

> The next priority is to feed our Pilgrims. We used to sign up for all kinds of fruits and vegetables, cheese, candy, coffee, soft drinks, and even cigarettes! (I go back a long way)
> Now we ask for GREEN FOOD PALANCA so the food purchasing team can look for the best buys leading up to the weekends. $5 will cover a breakfast or lunch, $10 for dinner or $20 for a full day. A $50 donation will cover a pilgrim for the whole weekend. See me at Ultreya to sign up or just email me jfklein64@gmail.com to sign up and then send a check (marked GREEN FOOD palanca) to our treasurer: Tom Culverwell, 3742 Manor Oaks Dr, Jacksonville,FL 32277-9710

> We still appreciate Homebaked Palanca: 2 dozen each cookies, muffins and coffee cakes. Let me know how many of each you can deliver to send-off.

> Special Palanca includes:
> Thursday Arrival Snack at send-off: fruit, finger sandwiches, cheese&crackers on 8 trays. Let me know if you can deliver to camp or at send-off.
> Pilgrim Guide bookcovers
> Balloon Rainbow-help construct or donate supplies

> Physical Arrangements includes:
> Mark & Load luggage at send-off

> Tear Down-(great Palanca for your Group) show up after lunch on Sunday
> Kitchen pack-up
> Move storage boxes to shed
> Sweep & Mop kitchen & dining floors

> Remember- on Men's weekends, men serve meals, women serenade and everybody can be chapel angels & kithchen helpers. On Women's weekends, women serve meals and men serenade.
> Rule of thumb for group made palanca: Table palanca-50 , Pillow palanca-25 pieces.

Prayers for Sarah

Please pray for my niece, Sarah and her 3 boys.  She lost her mother, my sister, last Thursday due to complications from her fight with cancer.  This was unexpected.  The last time she was at the doctor, she was cancer free, but the treatment weakened her body tremendously.  Her last chemo treatment had been cancelled.

Prayers for Debbie Jones

Please Pray for my friend and co-worker Debbie Jones.  I am attaching part of the letter she sent me today and I am praying with out ceasing.  She is a faithful woman but this is her second bout with cancer in the past 6 months... First she had Thyroid cancer and now this. Please Pray but especially on Friday when she has her surgery.

On June 20th the Dr. Curtis (finger surgeon) called me and said he needed to see me.  We went and I was told I have cancer (Chondrosarcoma).  It is a kind of bone/cartilage cancer.  So fast forward to now... I have been through tests and doctors visits and more tests and more doctors visits.  My PET scan showed no other cancer visible only at the surgery site of my finger. So now I will have surgery to amputate my right index finger.  That is the way they treat this cancer.  The area needs to be cleared of the cancer with clean margins around.  And since the tumor was at the top knuckle this is the only option.  Well I say only....I can choose no surgery, however this cancer tends to return if not treated and then metastasize in other parts of the body.  So its a gamble.  I will have surgery on the 20th at Orange Park Out Patient. I am scared, emotional and plain angry that I now have another thing to deal with and I don't feel sick.

Please Pray for Debbie, her husband and her parents to get through this and to find God's purpose in her trial.

GLYASDI,
Katherine Morrison

101 & 201 Training

Decolores to all!

I hope you all have had a very restful summer so far and are getting ready for our fall weekends - Team #57.

In addition to the monthly Ultreya at Mandarin Lutheran Church, this Saturday July 21st, we are providing the required training of 101 and 201 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (also at Mandarin Lutheran).    I will be providing a combined session in this 2 hour period.    The sessions normally run 4-6 hours, but we are going to try a new short method.   Now is your chance to catch up and prepare yourself for team participation.

If you are on the fall teams for #57 this year, you must attend at least 1 time.  I encourage all of the team members to join us as the experience of all provides for colorful conversation.   All new pilgrams from #56 in 2011 and Co-Ed #4 in 2012, should attend.

The timing should be easy as there is a scheduled Ultreya immediately following the training.

So, please join us at Mandarin Lutheran on Sat 7/21/12 for:

      training 101/201  3:00 - 5:00

      pot luck   5:00 - 6:00

      Ultreya    6:00 - 7:00

I look forward to seeing you all next weekend.
