Update on Cody

Doctor said his blood work results came back and show he has a "significant” infection. His blood clotting factors are not good and they are going to give him medicine to try to improve that. He may need blood transfusion. Dr is concerned about his kidney function. He is getting medicine for his blood pressure being low. Dr said " he is a very sick boy!" and he will be here awhile.  Every time blood work comes back Cody has a different electrolyte out of balance and gets a new medicine ordered. Running out of hooks to hang IV bags on.

Dr is in the room early this morning checking on Cody. His urine output has been acceptable so that's a positive.
No other news yet.

further update on our grandson Cody.....He is doing better this afternoon. He just had a pic line put in and the infectious disease doctors they called in from Gainswille is pretty sure that he has contracted Rat Bite Fever from a pet rat they have at his mothers house.
He was in septic shock last night so we are having to overcome some of those issues but he is on the right track. Hopefully he will be moved from ICU soon.  Can't thank everyone enough for all the prayers that have been sent.  God is so Good.

Update on Jeff

Hello,

This morning, at about 8:15 am, Jeff was driving his motorcycle about 1 mile from our house when he got into an accident.  Jeff was planning to meet up with a motorcycle group in Red Wing and ride in a gang much of the day.  My understanding is that he was driving on Hwy 55 when a (straight side or semi) truck pulled out in front of him.  Jeff attempted to slow but hit the truck on the broad side, behind the last set of wheels.  He was wearing a helmet, leather jacket, gloves, and jeans.

Jeff was taken to Regions Hospital ER via ambulance.  His vital signs have been stable.  His main injuries are his right femur (high bone) was shattered, he has a brain injury resulting in some bleeding on the brain, bruising along the chest with some bleeding into his chest cavity, and puncture wounds to the front of both shins.  The medical staff have checked on the chest bleeding and it appears to have stopped.  Jeff is currently in surgery to drain the blood in his chest, check for other possible fractures (such as hip), place a metal rod in his thigh to set the femur, and clean/repair the damage from the puncture wounds.  He probably won't be out of surgery until 9pm.  Overall, his prognosis is good.  Though, there are many things that we just have to wait and see on.  He may be in the hospital for 1-2 weeks or more.

If you wish to visit Jeff, he is at Regions Hospital on unit C5100 (central, 5th floor), room 5103-2.  Visiting hours are 8 am to 8:30 pm.  However, I am asking that people not visit on Sunday, 5/20, in the afternoon, as I am not sure how well he'll being doing after surgery and what his schedule is for PT.  Also, his parents plan to visit and I will be there on 5/20.

People have asked me what I need.  I don't know what I need.  I'm still in shock and this is my first time dealing with a loved one having a serious medical condition.  So, I guess I need prayers and support, but I cannot yet define what would be supportive.

Thank you.

Do you remember one of the first funny Spanish words you heard about on your weekend? Palanca was described as a LEVER and the fulcrum of that lever is always PRAYER! We  should remember to pray before, during and after creating and presenting any form of Palanca we provide during the weekend. Since prayer is the basis for all Palanca, I list the online Prayer Chain (Prayer Vigil) as our primary need. We are about half way there for COED #4 (May 17-20):

http://3dayol.org/Vigil/GetVigil.phtml?pvid=6387&commid=311

The above link will take you to the Prayer Chain for COED #4. Please sigh up early and often! Don't forget to mark your calendar so you don't forget what time to pray wherever you are.If you have a groupie or know of anybody else who doesn't do email, volunteer to sign them up or contact me and I'll be glad to do it.

The next priority is to feed our Pilgrims. We used to sign up for all kinds of fruits and vegetables, cheese, candy, coffee, soft drinks, and even cigarettes! (I go back a long way)

Now we ask for GREEN FOOD PALANCA so the food purchasing team can look for the best buys leading up to the weekends. $5 will cover a breakfast or lunch, $10 for dinner or $20 for a full day. A $50 donation will cover a pilgrim for the whole weekend. See me at Ultreya to sign up or just email me jfklein64@gmail.com to sign up and then send a check (marked "Green Food Palanca)  to our treasurer:  Tom Culverwell, 3742 Manor Oaks Dr, Jacksonville,FL 32277-9710

Physical Arrangements includes:

Mark & Load luggage at send-off

Van or SUV to haul food/ palanca to camp at send-off

Tear Down-(great Palanca for your Group) show up after lunch on Sunday

Kitchen pack-up

Move storage boxes to shed

Sweep & Mop kitchen & dining floors

Remember- on Coed weekends both men & womer can serve meals, serenade (except for spouses of pilgrims) and be chapel angels, and help construct the balloon rainbow.

Rule of thumb for group made palanca: Table palanca-50 , Pillow palanca-25 pieces

Prayers for Terry Rhodes

Greetings,

I ask for your prayers for my family especially my brother Terry Rhodes. He went into the hospital Monday for a bladder infection, after running test they have found abnormalities in his Bladder, Liver and now in his Kidney. They have done a biopsy but are pretty sure it's cancer. We are waiting for test results to confirm but the signs are pointing in that direction. It's a little early to get to worried but I figure you can never pray to early. He is up in Pennsylvania with the rest of my family so its hard not being up there. I just ask that you  pray for his comfort and peace for him and the family while he is going through this. My brothers do not have a strong faith and can get despondent pretty fast. Thank you in advance for your support and prayers.

Peace and Blessings,
